video - Fashion Gods

[Oh look who it is! It's your resident, deluded God. It seems they have crawled out of whatever hole they had been hidden in for the past month, looking just as thoughtful as ever]

Hello, Hinoto-Ri. A lot has occurred recently, hasn't it? I heard there had been a mystical journey to an alternative world! I wish I could have gone. It would have been amazing to see the denizens of the other world, to see how they lived and acted... differences occur in different worlds, as Hinoto-Ri is-

Oh, my apologies. I have rambled.

In any case, I am certain that many of you have discussed the events that have passed extensively between yourselves. My discussion is of a trivial, yet very important matter! A recent conversation has made me ponder over something that still eludes me, and relates to my previous comments on how my world, and Hinoto-Ri, are very different from one another.

What is fashion?

I did not know what this was when first arriving here, but I have read and researched the subject, and fashion seems to be a very important cultural and social aspect of humanity! Just having the correct clothes, worn in the correct way, with the correct brand allows you to climb the social ladder with ease! I don't really understand it, but the concept of it fascinates me!

I would love to hear your opinions on it! Let us begin a discussion!

They why the mask? Huh huh huh?

[So basically the harder you argue, the more she will push in that direction.]

Bravo, stranger! You could say that the latter begets the former. Being able to follow a trend means you've got enough power, capital, and social awareness to afford keeping up with constant change, all of which are valuable markers of status in many societies. Being fashionable is a neat way to claim ownership over all three.

And by being fashionable, different social groups open up to you as they recognize you as their own. Once you're in the group, you can choose to absorb their social culture or introduce new ideas, forming a different trend within the group that can spread to many other circles. And so on, and so forth.

About... my own? Well... hmm. *pausing again, thinking that over carefully.*

Colors that go well together and look good with the blue of my skin, and the black of my wings and hair, I suppose. Clothes that cover me well, and flow nicely, but without getting in my way... clothes that look nice, and don't make me stand out too obviously. *There's an odd bit of a smile at that last part. There must be a private joke there....*

*but the smile fades again....* I mean... stand out more than I do by my own merits. I have no reason to call attention to myself; I've nothing to announce, that everyone should turn to me for. If I want an audience with someone, I see no reason not to try to get it directly.

*a slight pause* ....What of you, though? Might I ask what your preference is? *Just curious! Anant asked him, so he may as well return the question, right?*

Well, it's called a fashion statement for a reason. You could say a person personality shows through the clothes they're wearing.

Fashion is a way to express yourself! It's kinda like a form of art.

You're right about that. It never made much sense to me, what's in and what isn't. Usually trends are set by those in the fashion industry. What they want to sell this season, I suppose.

And that's why some people don't bother with fashion.

It's like a trend I guess? People buy different kinds of styles of clothes and different kinds of brands because they think it's cool. I guess it's sort of a way of fitting in or expressing yourself, like the others said.

Are you certain it is a human only concept? It seems like something the Eldar would be interested in also.

Usually. Though that doesn't really mean anything about the quality of the person as a person. There's lots of people who are jerks even if they dress well. There's also people who aren't who don't dress well. But some people can be kind of shallow and just judge people based on how they look.

Hmm, yes, I suppose. Have you gotten any answers that have suited your purpose, then?
