8th Screw [Accidental Video]

[Hey there, Hinoto-Ri.  There's a certain hardworking robot girl that's just about hit her limit tonight, and thanks to having accidentally turned on the broadcasting function of her watch while she was taking it off to do some work, you all get to see just what she's been dealing with ever since half the city disappeared.]

Ahhhhhh... I don't understand any of this!  What am I supposed to do?

[Nano is loudly whining to herself while sitting at a desk.  There are papers stacked and scattered everywhere haphazardly, along with several calculators sitting in various locations on the desk, paper streaming out of them like ticker tape at a parade.  Other receipts are messily strewn about the desk and the room, and even more go flying as Nano pounds the desk in frustration before flopping forward onto it.]

I can't run a business!  What was I thinking?

Well now would be a good time to try it, don't you think? It would be a great way to help you get everything done!

...Or are you not compatible with the technology of this city? I could help if you want! Just need to find a cable that's IEC 76610-5-203 compliant if you don't have any outright wireless network ports!

USB, huh?

Oh wait! Let me check the Barrier device I found in the room I was given!

[There's some shuffling as she grabs something. She holds it near the screen so Nano can see what looks like a u-shaped metal collar.]

Yep! There's a USB plug on here along with the other standard ones! Thanks to the IEC 62680 standard, they're all compatible with USB ports and cables! So I can make a direct wired connection to you!

Well... To begin with, can we separate these out? Any money earned can go here, and money spent can be placed here. [She indicates two spots on the desk.]

Once we have them sorted out, we can both take one pile each and add it all up. That should give us an idea of how much income the business has.

[Even now she's gathering a few receipts, checking over them methodically before placing them in the correct spot.]

Oh it's definitely safe for me! This external barrier has a ton of firewalls and protective programs so if there's any viruses in your OS, I'll be fine!!

Your OS should be okay as well, unless you have some unprotected wireless ports or viruses you don't know of. But since it's a direct wired connection, all we'd have to worry about is the program I'd be transferring. And I promise to do a bunch of scans and research to make sure anything I give you is safe! I'll also double check myself to make sure I don't have any programs that might try to transfer to you.

Basically I can guarantee that only programs you want will be transferred, and I won't do anything else without your permission!

Well, if you don't have any firewalls or protection programs up, then anybody could just access them when connected to your OS, but they'd have to do that on purpose. And I'm pretty sure you could do the opposite if you want, look at anything I have in the External or my cyberbrain that I don't have protected. But you'd ask before doing any of that, right?

But don't worry, if you don't want me to access anything, I can promise not to do so! I can just transfer the file and that would be it!

Let's start with organizing the receipts. And then the order invoices. That's should give us a good idea of just how much work we need to do.

Right. It's best to do it by date. How long has this place been in business?

You just need to break it into smaller jobs, and the process becomes more bearable. If we work on it bit by bit like this, it will be done in no time.

Oh!

[She laughs.]

In that case, this should be easy.

[She'd been expecting much worse honestly.]

Yes... If you try to take it on all at the same time, it will feel overwhelming, won't it?

The student council had to take on similar projects at my school. We would always split the work among ourselves so that it would be easier.

You normally have others working here with you, right?
