"I don't suppose any of you know how to blend magic with a known technological system? I've been working on a project and I suspect the setbacks are due to magic inclusion in the system. If anyone has expertise on this I'd be most appreciative of a chance to collaborate on this project."

You could try putting some magic in a blender! That technology! You could have a magic smoothie!

"Actually I'm looking to decode a system and it appears to be partially alien in operation. As the alien technology from my point of view here is called magic, I am inquiring along that line. I'm not cooking."

Heh. That's something of a specialty of mine. What sort of system is it?

"I'm working on the local network. The data structure has some alien components and here most of those are called magic."

Heh. What sort of thing are you working on? It might be something I already have notes on.

"An understanding of how the local networks run, just in case it goes down again."

Hm. I can send you some of my notes, though I don't know if the programming you're familiar with is similar to my own.

"I would appreciate that, or if you'd like to come over I can show you my mainframe and possibly we could work out code differences."

There are a few robots I've encountered that use "magic", but it was all black box systems. I couldn't tell you how they actually worked.

"I don't suppose any of the technicians that worked on them are available, or any are in your machine for analysis?"

I helped with maintenance and tuneups, but I don't have any of that data with me except what I can remember.

"I'm trying to figure out the network here so I guess it probably wouldn't be the same anyways."

Hm, where had she heard that voice before....? Well, some voices sounded similar, when sampled down to the format used for voice transmissions...

"I suppose that depends on how you'd care to define 'magic'. I have knowledge of some technologies that, ages ago, would have likely been classified as magical."

"I suspect similar to the energy that the persona we were given. I'm certain that its formulaic and once that is cracked it can be classified more easily but currently I don't have that data."

"Oh. I don't think I can contribute much about that. I haven't even been able to do that Persona thing yet. Though I'm familiar with certain types of 'summoning' that really just boil down to compressed, warped space and energy reactors that can manipulate it..."

"Its more the energy sources themselves. The bases are there and I recognize them, just its augmented by technology that is out of my area of expertise."

"It's probably out of the range of my expertise, too. I know generally how these things work, but I'm not a scientist."

She sighs, sad that she can't offer more... and then she perks up a bit, with a little laugh.

"I suppose I haven't been very helpful. But I do want to help with something, somewhere, while I'm here."

"Its all right, everyone has their own talents and this is a bit out of my range too. I'm not even sure if I'm doing this to help, its more to figure out WHY we're here."

"If you need something slain, or if you need a casserole, I'm your go-to person. Beyond that..." There's more laughter, a bit bashful. "If there's information to gather, I'd say gather it, even if you're not sure it's applicable now. It might apply later?"

"Its more I don't speak the language its written in and I'm trying to find someone who does. I suppose I could just try and brute force the code, but that may be in-eloquent and noticeable."

"Even less-than-elegant efforts can still give you something to go on. But there's a good chance you'll find someone who knows what you want to know! There's quite the assortment of people here."

"The thing about data intrusion is less than elegant tends to give away that you are doing it."

"...ah. You're tampering with networked systems, then?"

"Someone brought it down a few weeks ago which means it has vulnerabilities. But the people that brought us here also use it. I want to find a way to listen in."

"I see. That sort of knowledge might help us, somewhere down the line. I hope you can find a way to do this elegantly."

"That was my thought as well. I get the feeling the city is not as benevolent as they want us to believe and would rather not be surprised by them. And thank you. If you find anyone who may be able to help please give them my contact info."

"I have my reservations, too. While this is an improvement from some places that I've been, I'm... hesitant to let my guard down."

She makes a little 'mmhmm' sound of agreement.

"I'll make sure to send them your way."

"Thank you, and you'll be the first I ask if I need a casserole."

Well, it sounds like an interesting project if you need a hand anyway.

"If you ever want to go out and help me map all of the available public open access points in the city so I can compare it to my map it would be appreciated then."

That sounds fine. Where are you?

"The park. In the large battleship by the train station."

I'll mark them down next time I go out exploring at night.

"Thank you. Deciphering this network has been confusing at best."

I'll be there soon.

"Understood."
