[ Late Friday morning, Minato manages to coordinate his sluggish movements enough to start a video feed on his COMP. He'd honestly rather just ask this by text, but he's having difficulty focusing enough to type, and video is easier. He's looking pretty pallid, though his cheeks are flushed with fever and his eyes are a bit glazed, as he sniffs and shivers and blinks blearily at the camera. ]

Anyone know where to go to see a doctor? [ His voice is very froggy, and although he opens his mouth to say something else, he breaks off with a cough, and he turns the COMP away while he recovers, muffling his coughs into the crook of his elbow. ]

Ah... sorry. I also... wanted to know if the doctors here made house calls...

[ It's cold outside, and he has a fever and doesn't relish the thought of stumbling to a clinic on the other side of the city. ]

[ What dramatic foreshadowing! But he smiles faintly and nods again. ]

Mm - I'm going to go back to sleep, I think.

Thank you for talking with me, Xion. I hope we see each other again when I'm well.

Your sister is here?

Mm.

[ He nods, and his expression definitely is a little softer and happier now. ]

Minako showed up the same day I did.

[She notices that, and it brings a smile to her own face.]

I see... It's lucky you two were able to come here together.

[He hears it well enough, and goes ahead to let himself in, with a couple of DVDs tucked under one arm as well as a bag with two containers of ice cream in his free hand. Some people say soup is the way to go. Akihiko and Miki respectfully disagree. Ice cream heals all wounds.

He frowns at the coughing fit as he closes the door behind him, shaking his head.]

That sounds awful. What can I get you?

Sorry...

[ Minato shifts and shrugs further under his blanket ]

'm just waiting for water to boil

Hmm, I'd say maybe four, five? It's QUITE effective, you know.

[Well then... she doesn't bother to knock on the door, but instead opens it with a key. This will be much easier when they all move into the dorm.]

Hey, Minato! I brought you some broth... You probably don't have much of an appetite for once, right?

[ Curled up on the couch, Minato had already fallen asleep in the time it takes her to get there, but that's okay because her cheery 'hey Minato!' wakes him up again, and he lifts his head to blink at her from under a disheveled curtain of hair. He sniffs. ]

Hey...

[ And shakes his head once. Food honestly sounds the opposite of what he wants right now. ]

You still need to try, though, so drink this.

[In the kitchen, she pours some of the broth from the still-warm container into a mug for him, then carries it over to the bed. He really doesn't look good.]

[ He doesn't feel so good, either, but he snakes his hands outside of his blanket and tries to sit up a little bit to avoid spilling. He just looks at the broth for a few moments, staring at the steam like it's the most fascinating thing in the world before he remembers to take a sip. ]

[She takes the chance while he's distracted with the steam to feel his forehead. Definitely a high fever. Then, she ruffles his hair.

She's going to pamper him, because she knows it's been years since anyone cared when he was sick. Except for the typhoon incident, but she doesn't know that he got just as sick then as she did.]

You're welcome. After you finish that you should go back to sleep.

[ Whether entirely consciously or not, he winds up leaning into her hand a bit as she feels his forehead and ruffles his hair. Her fingers feel cool to the touch, and besides it's a nice feeling. But then she's talking to him, and he looks up at her again, nodding. As he takes another sip, he considers protesting going back to sleep just... well, just because. But really, that's the main thing he wants to do right now.

So he dutifully sips at the broth, though he doesn't really taste it. ]

How long're you staying?

I don't really have anywhere to be, today...

[The taste isn't important, it's just broth. It's meant to give him some nutrients and some liquid.]

[ She doesn't know the half of it, but Minato keeps on smiling as he nods. ]

Definitely. It seems like this place offers a lot of unexpected second chances.

[ But what if it tasted bad? What if it tasted like poison? Taste would be important then! .... however he smiles a little and nods and leans back against his pillow again. ]

Good. I like days with you.

Second chances? In what way?

[She'd been brought here at the end of one thing, but certainly with much more to do in the near future. This trip to Hinoto-Ri has definitely become more of a side event of its own rather than any sort of second chance for her.]

What the heck are you apologizing for?

[He shakes his head a second time, this time in disbelief, walking into the kitchen to stick the ice cream in the freezer before returning to where Minato's bundled up.]

I'll keep an eye on the water for you. What were you going to make with it?

[ He nods slowly, not doubting it but still wanting to know. ]

How long do they last?

[ Oh no he's been caught! Most people don't question the second chances thing too closely, at least not in this context. Perhaps luckily he's too sleepy and out of it to fully backpedal or anything like that. Instead he just keeps on smiling. ]

It's a new life. And I get to see people I never thought I'd see again.

Oh, I'd say a good eight hours or so. As I said, they're VERY good.

...A new life?

[...Surely he can't mean that literally... Right?]

Were you... split up from your friends, then?

[ He isn't quite sure why he apologized either - just that he felt bad for being sick and making his friends worry. But Akihiko is busy putting ice cream away, so Minato doesn't explain. Instead, he just watches his friend. ]

Tea...

[ There's a mug next to the stove and a tea bag in it already. ]

I'll take care of it. Want anything in it?

[As if on cue, the whistle on the tea kettle goes off, and Akihiko turns towards the stove to tend to it with an almost surprising efficiency, considering with the way he eats, most people would assume he'd never seen the inside of a kitchen.]

[Hearing him be so frank is a little bit refreshing. And weird. But still...]

Mm, well... The feeling's mutual!
