[Rose has managed to get settled into her apartment in the Pisces district. It is still fairly bare, but she has hung up the few clothes brought with her in the closet and has a few nick-knacks on the shelves near her bed. She is seated at the foot of the bed, legs delicately crossed as she surveys the watch camera--much preferring already to the strange glasses.

She is still not certain that this isn't just a trick of the dream bubbles or perhaps Lord English--or simply SBURB itself--but her intuition tells her it's somewhere completely new. And that is precisely what worries her. Rolling a small white ball in her other hand, she addresses the video with a small smirk, projecting an air of nonchalance and confidence that is not entirely faked.]

Greetings, my name is Rose Lalonde. I am new to the city and this world, and I would appreciate any advice or information you might have--especially as it pertains to returning to our own worlds. I am afraid I do not have much time to trifle about here. There is much work to do in my own universe.

I would also be grateful to hear if anyone has seen my friends. Their names are John, Jade, and Dave. If you have not seen them, my other companions might have been easier to spot. They are an alien race of trolls with gray skin and horns. I would be willing to barter for information about their safety and location

That is unsurprising news. It always seems that those with near unlimited powers cannot take care of the most simplistic of tasks. Such is their predicament.

[She shrugs lightly.]

I would be grateful for any assistance you might provide on that front, though I have already made contact with one of my companions.

Or the world ended and the game was just a coincidence. I haven't yet determined that.

Ended the world? But how did you and your friends survive?

[Yeah, Rose, you're dealing with a pretty panicky robot here. Nano's already flailing her arms wildly as the key in her back spins like crazy.]

Lying low. Right.

[ That is what she herself has been doing, after all, but she is not feeling too optimistic. If it turns out that she is the only troll in this city of aliens, she is going to feel like she sticks out like a sore thumb. ]

At the very least it is a relief to have someone I am acquainted with here.

[ Romantic. ]

In your knitting bag? What a novel place to store memories.

[Nope, not moving on. Rose's curiosity is piqued.]

Where are you from in the timeline precisely? It might make any future conversation a bit more straighforward if we are sure of what the other remembers or has not yet experienced.

[Rose blinks, watching the key spin with an amused laugh.]

Inside of the game, of course. Its purpose is to create a new universe, according to the little information we have managed to compile.

[Not after the people Rose has met. Another Elder Gods obsessed girl, a robot complete with turn key, a small candy-covered girl... Kanaya will fit right in.]

I am glad to see you, too, Kanaya.

[Rose understands what she really means.]

Even if I would wish the circumstances were different.

Well, I wouldn't want to leave them around. What if someone took them? It would be a shame to have impersonators, particularly bad ones.

[ She thinks about it for a second before answering. It seems like she doesn't mind talking about amnesia, but she's definitely not extremely comfortable considering she's the only amnesiac around. ]

The last thing I remember was finding a strange girl that was presumed to be my mother in the furthest ring. However, that memory feels far from complete, and I have a certain feeling that there were more past that that I have yet to uncover. Being here, of course, sets a few drawbacks in that sturdy plan.

I still have about nine memories sitting in my bag that I haven't taken, but I doubt they are of utmost importance.

[Rose blinks again, pursing her lips as she tries to find the most delicate way to phrase the question that is practically begging to be asked.]

I... assume then you are from some alternate timeline? Because I am from past that point in my own timeline, but the have no memory of ever having amnesia. Though, I suppose that would be quite ironic, would it not?

[She frowns quietly.]

You truly do keep your memories in your knitting bag?

[She had hoped it was a joke.]

Extremely. I had always been told that I would return home as if nothing had ever been different. Given that people who choose to return never come back, well...it would be a bit hard to interrogate them regarding their memories.

[ Hah. ]

Memories come in tangible form, usually with some objective you must complete in order to receive them.

I suppose that is one word for it, yes.

[She shrugs.]

[ Wow good to know where you put your girlfriend, Rose. ]

At least it is a change of pace from the meteor. A completely unwanted and likely highly inconvenient change of pace, but one nonetheless.

Is this Earth?

Certainly not the Earth I knew, but it does seem to be some alternate Earth, yes.

[She shrugs lightly.]

The basics are similar, though some details are not quite exact.

[Rose nods.]

I see. So even if you had returned successfully, you--I--... any form of us would not have known.

I apologize. This will take some adjustment, and I do not wish to be insensitive with my language.

[She rubs the back of her neck in embarrassment.]

But that is quite an interesting storage mechanism, if a bit inconvenient. I would not be wrong in assuming then that you do not have all of your memories? I hope you are not missing anything vital.

For someone unfamiliar with even the basics, it is still all quite a lot to take in.

Certainly, it would be. Perhaps it would not be amiss to have a few tutoring sessions in basic Earth culture?

Wonderful. We should begin shortly then. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon? That will give us each adequate time to finish settling our possessions into our new apartments.

[No! She's not going to forget. She is however going to worry herself into an early grave about ruining her second and maybe only chance.]

Perhaps that might be... fortuitous, given the circumstances and our previous experiences.

We are currently still playing--or I was until I came here.

The more you talk of home, the more I wonder if I'd be better off serving the realm elsewhere... [ She trails off, thinking for a bit before snapping back. ] No, it's really fine. I'm not at all certain as to the proper procedure for discussing alternate timelines with various other selves. As far as I know, there's only one of us like that to begin with.

I do not; at last count I had around twenty. Who knows how many I had left, and what importance they held?

Ah... I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like a very difficult game.
