01 video - Cult Recruitment Attempt Number Two

[The feed flickers on to reveal a masked individual, their gender completely ambiguous]

Hello, Residents of Hinoto-Ri. I have been told that my earlier invitation to my cult was done rather poorly. I am not very experienced in recruiting in such ways, so please, forgive me for my clumsy blunders. I must have come across as suspicious, as many of you have said, and that was not my intent.

My intent is entirely pure.

But I am to explain it, yes? That was the criticism...

Humanity is something I have always admired. No matter how harsh the world becomes, no matter how dark and destructive your lives becomes, you struggle and fight against all the circumstances, to try and achieve - many things! You have dreams, ambitions, goals and needs, sometimes born of selfishness, sometimes born of altruism, and sometimes because you have nothing else, and the only direction you can go is up, or down, or sideways.

No matter the decisions humans make, be they for ill or good, the sheer depths of those emotions that rule your every movement are something...extremely fascinating. No, perhaps not emotions...your ingenuity, your intelligence and perseverance...

Humans never give up, even when it is clear they will lose.

This is the basis of my cult. To know and understand that success is there for those who will continuously struggle for it. To know that your decisions and consequences are accepted and encouraged - I would think that all humans would follow these rules, but I have learned that only a small portion of my world espouse these views. Many humans, in direct contrast, become meek and complacent, allowing the flows of time to push them to wherever the current goes, utterly apathetic to their own wants and needs.

That is also fine.

Choice is important. Humans can choose to struggle, humans can choose to give up - although it is better if they push and struggle, until they break.

My apologies. I must sound so contradictory in my words. In conclusion, my cult is for the celebration of the human condition. You are a wild, passionate species, that can destroy Gods and create worlds, coming in all ranges of personalities and ambitions. There is no 'evil', there is no 'good'. There is only humanity. And that is something to worship.

Those are my opinions. I have explained myself well now, yes? If there is further criticism on my conduct, please state it. I wish to spread this love for the human condition, even to those who loathe the darkness within, so developing better ways of 'advertising' it would be wonderful!

Please, think on it...

[The feed cuts off]
universebeware: (...well that was obscenely horrifying.)

...

[Well, that's unsettling. Usually the only kinds of reactions he gets like that are when he gives some of the more destructive Autobots new toys to play with. Given that he just caused that with words, he's not sure how to feel about it - though 'not good' is high on the list of choices.]

Y-yes, that could work. Possibly.

...If it works out for you, I don't want any credit.

[Geeze, that was odd to say.]

[Hark, a handy way out of this appears.] Well - it's not really my idea, there was a small group from my home that had 'movement' as part of their name.

[And with the out comes a handy distraction. Even if the 'OH HEY YOU'RE A ROBOT' line of discussion is terribly old for him now, it's a much more welcome topic than religious things.]

I am indeed a metal being. I think in ways superior to humans. I do have emotions - mostly frustration and irritation in my time here, but I'm capable of the whole gamut. If I need to replace multiple parts, I go into stasis and leave myself in the hands of a skilled surgeon. The...

[He pauses, taking just a moment to consult information he's collected.]

...Ship of Theseus paradox does not quite apply to my race, given that we can, and sometimes do change our bodies on a regular basis. Our spark, however, remains the one constant with those changes.
universebeware: (Shut up. I'm thinking. Unlike you.)

Something similar, yes, though a spark is actually observable and tangible.

[The rambling gets a somewhat bored and exasperated look, followed by a sigh. It's almost like hearing Drift go on.

And then another, more belabored sigh follows once Anant brings up observation. This keeps up, and he's going to have a fan club, albeit not in the way he would prefer.]

Unfortunately I have far too much work to do to cater to your whims of observation. However, the answer to that question is 'more than you can count', if you consider my race as a whole.

[He does actually chuckle, though.] And you have no idea just how integral change is to us.
universebeware: (It's totally robo-lupus.)

It is. It resembles...well, a ball of electricity, to use a terribly simple descriptor. It does require a particular containment device, and it's linked with some other very specific parts. One replaceable, one not - so I misspoke before, there's two constants.

It is... Not quite heart-like. In function, a fuel pump is similar to a heart. However, in terms of necessity to everyday function, the organic heart is more analogous to our transformation cog - one of the aforementioned linked parts.

You are...welcome, I suppose. It is good to see someone curious without being terribly obnoxious about it.

[Brainstorm makes a mildly amused noise, much like a 'heh'.] Well, at least you're willing to put forth effort to research to counteract your shortcomings.

As for what to research... Nngh. Cybertronian biology is quite different than Earth technology, but motors, robotics in general... I don't believe there's a technical equivalent of a spark that could be researched, however.
