[Joshua is holding his wrist out before him, smiling at the watch's camera. This thing is interesting... this whole place, really, is interesting to him. He's sitting in a cafe, with a steaming cup of coffee in his hand. While aware of his need to spare the money he had for food here- after all he was practically human again- it did good to rest his nerves.]

I've been investigating this extra thirteenth hour in the day as others are calling it. It's quite interesting, really, for more reasons than one. Most interestingly... restrictions on my abilities are lifted during the Thirteenth Hour.

[In other words, he's completely human every other hour of the day, and that's incredibly frustrating.]

I'm perfectly aware that there are those here who are more experienced with this world than I am. I'd like to know more about the Thirteenth Hour, if it's possible. What exactly it is, why it exists, what effects it has on this world... Anything you can tell me~

For Sho, Shibuya WAS garbage. But it was like his junk sculptures. It could be beautiful. Other places? Well, they had no aesthetic at all. One always got attached to their home, no matter how hard they try not to] So what happens, then? When you Erase a whole factoring town. Obviously all the digits get divided out into Soul... What about the buildings? Would there just be a smokin' hole in the ground?

And it's beyond me why someone who's supposed to look over an entire city seems to not get people even more than I don't get people.

I'll let you believe whatever you'd like to believe. [He's neither going to confirm nor deny his conjecture for right now.

Joshua just shakes his head slowly.] Two things would be erased. [He holds up one finger.] One, as you said, all of the 'digits' would be divided into Soul. [And a second finger.] Two, the Underground plane would cease to exist over Shibuya, essentially erasing the seat of Composer and the Reapers' Game as a whole. Buildings would remain in tact, but the city itself would be a virtual void, empty of people, and empty of Noise as all negativity is dispersed. Something I once viewed to be a necessary tragedy.

[SO HE'S RIGHT. That's what he believes. And what he'll act on in the future. Oh Sho.

He frowns.] ... I've never heard of anything like that happening. Ever. Something as major as that would surely get codified in history books! So your plan was unprecedented. And also bad. Heh. Maybe that Fallen Angle wanted me to stop you from dividing Shibuya by zero because it would mess up the rest of the world too much.

[ Oh good lord that thread... ]

I guess so. [ He shrugs, as it seems as good an explanation as any. ]

Ah... it's... a bit of a long story, but the short version is that it was caused by experimentation on Shadows and an attempt to bring about something called The Fall, which is... the end of all life, basically, though I'm not sure how much was known about what would happen by all involved.

That's...pretty strange.

Fine. [He's right about her not having it in her to be violent, but Shiki can be scary when she's angry...]

So... that means, the psychs work. But only during the 13th hour?

I don't knoooow... [She tilts her head to the side, her finger glasses still on her eyes.] I think you'll look pretty good in them!

A reaper? [His eyebrows lift.] Sounds serious.

I'll keep an eye out for that name, though. Eccentric, violent, and dangerous is a pretty volatile cocktail, even if he's been behaving thus far. I'll keep the info under my hood. Cross my heart.

[A pause as Lea takes a moment to debate how to voice appreciation for the information, contrition for the misunderstanding, and gratitude for the boy's efforts to keep this dangerous person in check without betraying his cool exterior. Shh, it's totally a cool exterior you shut your mouth.]

So... maybe let's start over, then. I'm Lea. Got a name?

Yeah, no. My eyesight's always been good.

[Joshua laughs a little.] Touche...

I think that won't be such a huge problem anymore, though, Neku-kun. [Something's still sort of bothering him, though.]

Why do you think of us as friends?

[.... Yes yes, good job Sho. That'll be troublesome later on the road but moving away from that thought.]

As far as I had heard, the Angels in the Higher Plane didn't want any interference with my Game. They wanted to see what would happen between my Conductor and me...

That's why that Angel must have been considered particularly rogue, not only for breaking the Higher Plane's laws but because he was going directly against the Higher Plane's wishes. Whoever he is, I must say his plan was a rather good one.

The end of all life..... [Huh. Well then.] That doesn't make this world sound particularly safe, if it is parallel to yours. In fact, considering this place is crawling with monsters, I'd say that's a rather unfortunate prospect.

Do you think the possibility exists that something similar could have caused this Thirteenth Hour?

It's not really important what my powers are, but... I suppose you could say that I have a particularly strong and flexible mind~

I believe that's how it works, though I haven't tested it myself. My psychs work just fine, but for a human being...

I can't really say. This world is anything but ordinary.

I should probably note that the term "Reaper" in my world means something a little different. They are involved with the dealings of the dead, but only after they've already died. Sho isn't any sort of angel of death.

[Joshua tilts his head curiously at Lea. Hm... he seemed to be much less hostile now, he could probably trust him with a name...]

Ah. Yeah, that's a bit of an important distinction. [Lea's notably not really surprised by the whole 'dealing with the dead' schtick--hell, he's visited the Greek Underworld, so that part's not too weird. Still...] Either way, he sounds like trouble, so the intel's appreciated all the same.

[He's really not a belligerent guy, Josh, he's just socially retarded and kind of emotionally inept. He's still trying to remember what it's like to really have emotions for real again, so bear with him.]

[ There's a slight hesitation, and then Minato lets out his breath in a sigh. ]

Unfortunately, yes. Not knowing much on the history of this place, I don't know how much of a possibility it is, however.

... in my world, the Fall almost happened in January, 2010. It was permanently stopped, however. [ Well... as permanently as he could make it, at any rate. ]

Well he certainly knows how to heat things up and keep them interesting, but for now he and I are determined to try and find a way home.

[Joshua laughs a little and gives a small shrug.] A pleasure to meet you as well, Lea. I assure you, it's never really been my forté to make anything easy for really anyone. A bad habit, you could call it.

If the Fall were to happen, is it possible that anyone could survive it? Perhaps this is a world where it wasn't stopped? [A morbid prospect but a possibility nonetheless.]

[ Minato is quiet for a moment, thinking about it, but then he shakes his head. ]

No. No humans, anyway.

[ Maybe Aigis and any other robots... Though, if he was completely honest, Minato isn't entirely sure anything other than humans would have been killed, but at the same time Ryoji had spoken of all life being extinguished... ]

Interesting is one thing. I like interesting. It's when it toes the line of people getting hurt that I get... antsy.

[Well, but only certain people. Most people can go suck an egg for all he cares, but he'll leave that part out for now. A chuckle and he waves a hand at Joshua.]

Well, I suppose it's a bad habit we share, then. I'll do my best to tone it down a little next time we chat.

Maybe 'friends' is too strong a word. But I do trust you. As much as you were a pain in the ass, you helped me in a lot of ways. And friends... help each other, right?
