It's far too cold outside for a trip to the library, but I've finished all the books in my apartment. Who knows a good story, urban legend, or rumour? I'd love to hear something new, anything really.

[ A guy has to make do until he can get his hand on some fresh literature. ]

It's a little late in the year for ghost stories, although November is traditionally the month of the dead so I'll listen nonetheless.

I could tell you a story a friend of mine wrote...

[hopefully before her brother spots this and manages to preempt her.]

He's not in the city, but I don't think he'd mind. Stories are meant to be told.

All right, then.

Once, there was a green forest. Many different animals called the forest their home - birds, fish, and alligators. But one alligator born in this forest wasn't like the others. His skin were bright pink, so he stood out from all the others.

The pink alligator couldn't make any friends and even had trouble getting food. He didn't blend in, and the things he tried to catch and eat would see him coming. But one day, he met a bird who was also different from the other forest animals. This bird didn't know how to fly, and it became the alligator's first friend. Every day the bird would rest on the alligator's back and try to practice flying.

You would, wouldn't you? But the other alligators didn't like him, and the rest of the animals were obviously afraid of him. Only the bird was his friend. Sometimes, the alligator would even let the bird sleep in his mouth. But he still got weaker and weaker because he couldn't catch any food, and one day he was so hungry that he accidentally swallowed his friend.
