Because a crime committed, even with good intentions, is still a crime. Those who claim that 'the end justifies the means' only chip away at the foundations of a system that requires the effort of all to maintain. Law and order cannot function without boundaries between what is and is not acceptable, and punishment for those who overstep them. There are lesser crimes, yes, but evidence and facts and truth must be able to stand together against falsehoods for a case to be built, and for justice to properly be upheld.

I don't know what things are like where you're from, but in my experience, justice often misses its mark. No matter how many genuine facts, evidence and truth, some criminals walk free.

Is that something you'd be willing to risk just for the sake of your ideals? Are you willing to let the grander truth get away because you refuse to add a little white lie of your own?
