[A serene-looking woman sits before the camera, cross-legged on one of the tiny couch-futon-hybrids they put in these apartments. Some people might recognize her from the other night, though she's currently not wearing the big hooded brown robe, but instead a cassock-like tan garment.]

I've met some of you other "Extraterritorial Guests" already, but for those I haven't, my name is Meetra Surik. I'm a traveler here, like we all seem to be, and I seem to have gotten even more lost than I thought I was - and I was heading somewhere with no real maps in the first place.

So, my request to the network is...tell me about Earth. We seem to be on Earth, and most of the people here seem to be from different "Earths"...which I guess could mean a kind of planet, but from context, it sounds more like multiversal theory turning out to be true. At any rate, I'm new to this planet, so please, tell me all about it. In return, I'll share what I can say about the Galactic Republic, where I'm from. Deal?

Sounds terrible. I can see the benefit of a strong leader then, especially if what he was taking over really was that well collapsed.

This doesn't sound like anything I've heard in history, though. Certainly not anything since the development of hyperspace travel or the Republic. Did all this happen in the Unknown Regions without moving into Republic space, I wonder, or is it something else...?

All kinds of aliens. Thousands of sentient species, in fact.

If I wanted cheese, usually I'd find a market. But yes, interstellar means 'between the stars'. I've gathered that that this world doesn't have that technology. Or they have something that could be used for it, since we're all from different worlds, but they don't really know how it works.

If the city we're in is approximately "Twenty-First Century", I can probably guess at the technology by looking around. How about politics?

I always thought so. If there's one thing I've enjoyed about living on the Outer Rim, it's the variety of people.

I don't think you'd want the guys I know going into space anyway. They'd probably just get bored if they couldn't find a bar fast enough.

I am unsure. I would need to see the shape of your galaxy to effectively ascertain where things were.

So basically, there are people here from many Earths separated by choices, but only a few from other planets separated by physical space.

Trust me, the people who colonize new worlds always think of that first.

Still, I never expected to hear about a civilization that expansive outside the Republic. Did you say it was entirely human?

By necessity, yes.

Do they also think of which valuables to steal right off the bat?

You generally want to stick to the developed worlds for that, unless you want to steal spare vaporator parts from farmers or rifle through cargo canisters for loose change.

Which can be surprisingly lucrative.

What necessity? Did something happen to all the aliens, or did you just not meet any sentient ones?

We met sentient aliens. They were hostile, implacably so. They could be mind-enslaving would be godlings like the Nephilimm, rapacious and destructive like the Eldar, or mindlessly violent like the orks. We pushed them back and destroyed them where we could.

Yes, basically. The all-encompassing Amala Universe holds all the possibilities and even more than that.

Hinoto-Ri is a tad more advanced than what I'm used to, but you're probably right. From what I hear it'll give you a fair idea of 21st Century technology.

Politics is a rather delicate subject, and a more in-depth lesson might be too alien for you to follow, so I'll try to summarise. We're mostly through the time of Kings and Queens, borders are changing and new countries appear every once in a while, and genocide and war are unfortunate facts of life. I doubt that last part will change in my lifetime, but I could be wrong.

I see. Have you seen this, or is it more of a spiritual belief?

A lot of the locals have "weird avatars" that help them out in about the same way we'd use droids back home. They don't seem to be around all the time so I thought they might be summoned from somewhere, like we were.

And I thought hutts were bad...it's a tragedy you only met hostile aliens, though. The Republic is made up of thousands of cooperating species.
