[ Bucking the trend that seems to have gripped the network these days, there's a new audio post for you all to enjoy.

The man behind the post happens to be blind, but he's only keeping things limited to audio until he has a better idea of what this city and it's inhabitants are like.

Still, he sounds friendly enough. Even if he is just a little straight to the point. ]

Greetings all, Snake here. I arrived in Hinoto-Ri earlier today and a few important questions have only just crossed my mind.

[ Pause for thought. ]

Does relying on a Persona too much have any unpleasant side-effects?

Also, I know each apartment building has 10 rooms per floor, but how many floors does each building have? And are the apartment buildings identical to one another?

My apologies for asking so many questions right off the bat, but I assure you they're important.

Let me know. I'm not going anywhere.

[ You can hear the smile in his voice as he cuts the feed. ]

[It's a rather to the point tone this time. No real sense of dat smug.]

Which building are you in; did anyone tell you that much?

[ There was really no need for Santa to include his name.

His voice is pretty distinct. Not like he's going through puberty again ha ha ha.]

They told me more than that, Santa. I'm in Libra.

[He wonders whether he should berate Snake for not announcing his building and room number together, but he wouldn't have done that either so he keeps quiet on that issue.

Another issue, though, he can't keep quiet on.]

So before you got here; what had just happened back home? Seems like people can come from different worlds and times and stuffs, it's some crazy shit.

[ Oh. That certainly was a question. ]

We escaped the, ah, "ship" and were making our way through the Nevada desert. We being Junpei, Lotus, Seven, Ace, Clover and myself.

[ And then there was some shit about a mummy? The less said about that the better. It'll come up eventually. ]

I don't know how to write braille, so I couldn't give you a form.

[Though he did supply Snake with a braille letter so that's pretty much a lie.]

So did any of those guys show up with you?

[He's not sure if he wants a yes or a no. Because ew Ace.]

[ Letting that obvious lie slide for a moment, Snake is more than able to work out who Santa is concerned about.

But he didn't ask directly, so he won't mention him by ~~code~~ name ]

Not as far as I'm aware. I take it you didn't bring June along with you?

Nah, she isn't here.

[Would most people think that was a good thing? Because Santa doesn't. He misses his sister thing.]

So... you wanna meet up and talk about this stuff, instead of doing it over a communicator?

[Communicators would have been so useful on the Gigantic Nevada Edition;

Do you know where you are right now? I guess it'd take a while to get your bearings and all that shit.

[ Snake both wishes Clover was here and is relieved she isn't. Who cares what most people would think. At least if she were here then she wouldn't be terrorising everyone else with her unique driving abilities.

Snake won't let his Clover issues get him down. If he'd sounded a little concerned earlier then there's no trace of that now. ]

I'd love to meet up, Santa. I'm in my room right now.

[ He starts to speak. Then stops. Libra 10-03 was on the tip of his tongue. But then he saw the chance for a harmless bit of fun. ]

It has a digital root of 4. Care to take a guess?

[He really really doesn't care to take a guess.

He isn't Jumpy. He wont jump through puzzle based hoops for treats, dammit.]

...Gimmie a fuckin' clue, at least.

It includes one of our bracelet numbers. Speaking of...did you bring your bracelet along with you?

Hang on let me guess... you're new, right? So you're not on floor eight anymore, so that means you must be on floor nine or higher...

Say you're on floor nine; then your room would be room 9-04 in Libra.

[Which is wrong, clearly.]

But that's not right, because I know the guy who stays in that room. Your would then be 10-3, 11-2, 12-1 or maybe 13-9, 14-8, 15-7 and so on like that.

But there haven't been enough people showing up for them to start moving folks into those floors already. At least I haven't seen a crowd of dumbfucks staggering about without a clue in the world that would suggest otherwise.

Judging by that? I'll say it's 10-03 in Libra.

And by the way? Nobody had the 3 bracelet, remember?

[ Oh, Santa. It's great to see that you haven't changed much.

Be careful or Snake'll fall for you. And what would their sisters think? ]

Such a sassy end to a perfectly thought out response. As expected of you, Santa.

[ His smile is, again, apparent in his voice. ]

Libra 10-03 is exactly right. Should I expect you soon?

I'm in Libra 8-06. Take your time.

[He says while he leaves his own place.

You know he's kidding, right? Right?]

[ Of course he knows. But if he didn't know then he'd be more than capable of making his way there. ]

Taking my time would be a nice change of pace, actually.

[Santa doesn't bother replying until he's knocking on Snake's door. He may be missing June and Clover but this is one door with a digital root of four he can open on his own. Thank God.]

It's Santa, I'm coming in alright?

[ It sure is a door that Santa could open on his own. But Snake opens it instead. ]

Fancy meeting you here.

[ It's his way of inviting Santa inside. He walks back into his apartment without another word. At least Santa gets to shut the door by himself. God knows he can be trusted to lock the thing. ]

I'm afraid I don't really have much to offer in the way of refreshments. I haven't had the time to get my bearings, but I believe there is a convenience store nearby.

[ Aaand he takes a seat. ]

So. Did you want to discuss anything in particular?

[Wow rude as. Just let Santa slam your door shut without knowing why that pissed him off. Maybe that was a little hasty.]

It's fine, I don't have anything either; I haven't even bought any booze yet.

[Snake's room, Santa notices, is more or less just like his.]

By the way; I dunno about the other building, but our rooms look similar as hell.

And I wanna make it clear that I don't have shit to do with this whole thing.

[See? He's being honest this time.]

That being said; I did show up a few days ago, so you should ask any questions first. Once you're up to speed I'll bring up some shit I wanted to discuss.

[ Santa being behind this wasn't something Snake had considered. The Nonary Game was something he and June were able to accomplish with a lot of money, years of planning, and a conveniently empty building out in the middle of nowhere. Even Snake could see that Hinoto-Ri was different.

As for this turning into a Q&A session with everyone's favourite sarcastic albino? Snake doesn't see how that could go wrong. ]

Wow. You're kind of putting me on the spot here, Santa. There's a lot I'd like to ask but I'm not sure where to start...

[ Have you ever heard of the Paradox of Choice? ]

We could start with Persona. Have you ever used yours for anything other than everyday stuff?

[ Missions, fighting demons, secretly working for the bad guys. Stuff like that. ]

I haven't used mine for anything full stop. I'm not in any rush to use 'em, either.

[Sounds a little too much like psychic power bullshit to Santa.]

I'm not saying I wont use them, but I'll have to be in a really fucked up place before I do.

You want me to expand on any of that?

[ Violent reactions aren't a new thing with Santa. Eventually you just roll with it. Anything for a quiet life. ]

What did your Persona ever do to you?

Nothing; and I hope it stays that way.

[Arms firmly folded, Snake. Firmly.]

Don't you think having one is creepy as shit? It's like Butterfly has been inside our heads, or something. I don't trust him one bit.

I don't trust this place, come to think of it.

[ He doesn't find it creepy. Sorry, Santa. He finds it a bit odd, if anything. ]

Of course I don't trust it, but there's little else we can do but make ourselves as comfortable as possible.

[ He shifts slighty. ]

I don't think Butterfly has been inside our heads. A Persona is the mask one wears in order to conceal their true nature from the world. If anything he only scratched the surface of that mask. At least, that's what I think as of this moment.

Oh hell no, maybe looking inside my head is fine - a little messed up and it pisses me off but whatever - but you're saying he scratched my mask? Not cool Butterfly you giant fucking asshole. I needed that mask.

[Is he done kidding around yet? Probably, because he smirks and takes on a lighter tone.]

But for some people their Persona is a hidden part of themselves; and not the face they wear day in day out. Think Ace and Hongou; if Ace showed up with a loyal and courageous lion as a Persona then that would be the mask he wears to hide his true nature, wouldn't it?

[Speaking of, they already saw that, didn't they? It was like a trainwreck.]

But if that asshole had a Persona based on Janus - you know, the Roman God? - then it'd be his true nature that was hidden deep inside his soul.

[He lets out a semi-hollow laugh.]

If he even has one of those, I mean.

Let's leave the discussion of Ace's eternal soul or lack thereof for another day. Neither of us are Janus so we can't focus on the past and future at the same time.

[ The future being how they're going to cope with being here, natch. ]

That said, he does make a fine example. Ace showed his true self towards the end of the Nonary Game, and his actions throughout the game weren't exactly those of a courageous lion. He was more like a devious predator, so Janus might be a better match for him regardless of whether he was Ace or Hongou. Perhaps he would wind up with a happy medium. Something like the Nemean lion?

[ So long as Atlus don't pick a mythology and stick with it, these guys are free to pick and choose their references.

Snake waves his good hand dismissively. ]

I think we're getting offtrack here. There's reason to be apprehensive, I agree, but I wouldn't avoid using your Persona if it'll put you in harm's way. Do you at least know what your Persona is?
