3rd Pokeball: Actors Wanted

As the feed snaps on, it shows Kotoha in profile, leaning back in a chair and looking thoughtful. The chair itself is tilting back on two legs as Kotoha starts speaking without looking at the camera.

"So I found the Velvet Room earlier today, and Caroline asked me to bring her a movie. Apparently they don't...have movies in there."

At this, Kotoha sits up a little straighter, the front legs of the chair falling to the ground with a thunk. She proceeds to flip the chair around so the back of it is facing the camera, and rotates to look directly into it, straddling the chair with her arms resting on the back.

"So, listen. My pride as an actress won't let me just...go out and buy her a DVD."

A pause for a slightly wry smirk.

"Well...maybe if it was one of my DVDs, but fat chance of finding one of those here. Anyway."

A slight cough to clear her throat before she continues.

"What I'd like to do is actually make a movie for her - which brings me, at last, to the actual point. I can handle a lot of the stuntwork and special effects and stuff, but it won't change the fact that it's only...well, me. So what I need are, you know...actors."

Behind her, a large black bipedal fox creature sneaks into the frame, holding up a sign with the lettering OUT OF WORK WILL ACT 4 FOOD on it, snickering under its breath. Not taking her eyes off the feed, Kotoha addresses it, sounding weary.

"Put the sign down, Zoroark, you aren't as funny as you think you are. Anyway, if you're interested in being in a movie, feel free to contact me."

[ Yukko leaps up into the air, waving her arms all around. How this is possible for her what with her communicator is... Unknown. ]

"Oh, thanks! Do you have any experience?"

A movie? Explain this a bit more, if you would.

Wow this guy is huge.

...wait, what was that?

"Do you...not know what a movie is either?"

"I may have done some acting in the past, but either way I have holography material and can easily record things."

"Thanks, Ruri! You are the best."

[electricyousei]

"I'm glad to be able to help."

And even more glad to not be asked to be in front of the camera.

"Okay, quick question - how good is the holography? Can you do multiple wide-angle shots at once, or is it more like a steadycam?"

[greyerrant]

"Not as such. Is it like a holovid?"

Welcome to the grimdark future, kid.

It's not actually too hard for Kotoha to grasp that 'holovid' probably lengthens out to 'holographic video' or something similar, but it's best not to go too fast, she supposes.

"Well, a movie is when you get a bunch of people together and have them act out a story while someone else records it so that other people can watch it secondhand. Is that anything like a holovid?"

"I take a 3D holographic image of an area, be it a room or so and can then put that against scenery and when its done compress it to 2D from whatever angle is needed."

"That sounds AMAZING. What are the practical limits?"

[electricyousei]

"All your filming has to be done in one of the empty rooms on the Nadesico. We can put in backgrounds and whatever later."

Don't mind the sudden silence, Kotoha is just mentally revising her plans. Eventually she looks up.

"Okay, I can work with that. I'm used to the backgrounds being done in post-production anyway, so this is good."

A pause as a thought suddenly occurs to her.

"...say. If you're using holograms, does that mean you could provide, say...human-shaped targets and background figures?"

[electricyousei]

"Yes. If it is in Omoikane's databanks we can put it in in post production."

[unbroken_chain]

"Okay, then we'll still need stand-ins of some sort...should I look for something that's easy to edit out in post?"

[electricyousei]

"It shouldn't be an issue."

[greyerrant]

"Well, in a way, yes. But we didn't really enact plays on holovids during the Great Crusade. What gets recorded is generally what actually happens."

[unbroken_chain]

"Oh, you mean like a battlefield documentary? That's a kind of movie, yes. Most of my experience is in genre films, though - sci-fi and fantasy adventure movies."

[unbroken_chain]

"In that case, I should be able to slap something together in a couple of days. Shall I contact you once I've gotten enough people together and we can work out which room on the Nadeisco would work best?"

[electricyousei]

"I'll clear out the holosuite."

[hachitaro]

Okay, so Taro's eyes are pretty much lighting up. He's always wanted to be in a movie.

"I can act! And I can help with some of the special effects, too!"

Some of them, at least. Provided they're not too big...

"Great! I'm Kotoha, nice to meet you."

And now it is time for the BRASS TACKS.

"How can you help with the special effects, exactly?"

[hachitaro]

"I'm Taro. And... uh. Well. Illusions. I can make them. They show up on camera."

Which isn't a bad thing for once! Hooray!

"Oh, like Zoroark does?"

At this, the bipedal fox creature still lurking behind Kotoha steps forward to peer into the camera curiously.
